PA Farm

I missed out on the NYC street scene for last month's Different Strokes assignment, so I got an early start on the next one. The challenge here is that the source photo is Black & White, so a little interpretation of values is required. I don't think I really have a lot of experience with "values" but I've done a few landscapes before.

I started with golden fall tones throughout, but then decided it didn't seem to match up well so I pushed everything in a more green, lush Spring direction. I really like painting on these slicker boards. The paint just flies onto the surface.

    This turned out beautifully, Gringo!
    Those far off hills really set the distance. Your building and silos look great. That blue is so metallic and I like your choice of red for the silos. You did such a great job on the values of green. I particularly like the loose foreground and the dark areas right behind the building.

    Hey Gringo! Great job on the newest DSFDF challenge. Just curious, what size is your panel? I've not even really looked at this challenge except to download the large photo - SOMEWHERE on my hard drive! @#$% never know where I save those files! :-)

    I figure you're into the 2nd or 3rd day of your California Landscapes show - how's that going? Or is too soon to ask?

    Hey, great job. Great job with the atmosphere in the far off hills. I particularly like the red silos amongst all the green. Nice color choices.

    Great distance in the far off hills, and what wonderful color choices. It does look like your paint was very fluid...well done!
