Another view of the rainy Mission District in San Francisco, this time, it's starting to clear up, but still very wet. I like rainy days like this, which is good, because we're hurtling toward this kind of weather again.
One more go at it. I'm including some steps along the way, not just to show the process, but I met with a painter over the weekend who was filming his painting process and discovered that some of this work seemed better at some stage along the way other than the finished product.
Even the the lighting is wrong in the three photos I took to show the process, I think I prefer the looser brushwork. Hmmm.
This is the converted studio of Samantha Buller, where I was lucky enough to attend a workshop recently. You should check out her amazing paintings. Right now she's in the middle of the 60/60/60 challenge. I'll let her explain here.
There's a small pagoda on the shore of an island in the middle of a lake in Golden Gate Park. Some say it's haunted. I thought I heard someone call out for help, but I'm pretty sure it was just a goose.
Went to a day-long painting class led by Sergio Lopez, at Samantha Buller's studio in Petaluma. I started off with some really awful sketches, but after lunch things started clicking. Sergio is a great teacher and is currently revamping his website, so look for it soon. Looking forward to taking some classes with Samantha herself, soon.
