Rusty Red

Acrylic on Cardstock - 6 x 4 inches - Sold

A quick sketch of that old truck in my neighborhood. I'm finding more and more I like the fresh, loose quality of my small sketches better than the larger more detailed pieces. This is my new mission. To bring what I like about the sketches and studies into the real of the larger pieces. We'll see how it goes.

'BASCO

Acrylic on Panel - 9 x 12 inches - sold

Some like sweets, some like it HOT.

Just under the wire for the Daily Paintworks' "Paint it Before You Eat it" Challenge.
I didn't get any sweets for Valentine's Day, but I did get a bottle of my favorite red stuff. It was just sitting there on the counter waiting to be painted. Go check out the other entries of tempting treats.

Tonga

Acrylic on Panel - 9 x 12 inches - • sold

This is the free ceramic polynesian themed goblet you get to keep when you order a hurricane at the famed Tonga Room, in the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. I painted him for the Daily Paintworks Challenge "White on White". Last week's challenge that is. I keep falling behind.

I thought I was getting pretty close to the actual tones, but when I photographed it this morning, it looked shockingly dark. I could try again, but it is what it is.

Joy Ride

Acrylic on Panel - 9 x 12 inches - sold

This week's Daily Paintworks Challenge is the The Wheel Challenge. I tried to capture the blurred motion in this photo I took, without resorting to dry brush techniques, and just stick with laying on paint.

Porch Sit

Acrylic on Panel - 5 x 7 inches - NFS

I'm fallen behind again, but I did pick a photo for last week's Daily Paintworks Challenge: The Seated Figure Challenge. Dana Cooper had some good pointers which were helpful in mapping out the bigger shapes. It worked pretty well, but I still didn't get the proportions quite right.
